What Do I Need to Prove Warranty Coverage?

In this article you'll learn what is needed to prove warranty coverage for a repair request.

    • To receive service under warranty, you must be able to show proof of purchase, such as a receipt, sales ticket or invoice.
    • Additionally, the product must be within the warranty period and not have physical damage.

    What To Do

    • The document provided for the purchase should be used to prove warranty. The document should display the following:
      • list of items
      • price for each item
      • full date (day, month and year) of the purchase
      • name and tax details of the retailer/vendor
    • If the product was not purchased but was won or swapped at repairs, the document to prove warranty should be as follows:
      • Winning notification (of competition, etc.)
      • Confirmation of contract bonus (if the product was given as a bonus of some sort)
      • Repair invoice given by Nintendo
    • The following documents are NOT accepted as proof of purchase and thus cannot be used to prove warranty:
      • Order confirmations
        • Email confirmations, for example, often don't show the price of the item or the tax details of the retailer.
      • Overview of ordered items (Amazon, etc.)
        • Crucial information is often missing from such overviews.
      • Delivery notes
        • A delivery note usually shows the items included in the box. Other information needed to prove warranty may be missing.
      • Documents provided by private vendors (products bought second hand, etc.)
        • If the seller can provide the original purchase invoice/receipt, the new owner can use this to prove warranty.
