Digital Content is Missing on Nintendo Switch (Games, DLC, etc.)

    Description:

Digital software is missing or can’t be launched from the Nintendo Switch HOME Menu.

    Important:

    • If you see an error message that says that the user cannot play this software, follow these steps.
    • If you see an error message that says that the Nintendo Account used to purchase the software has been unlinked, follow these steps.
    • If you see a message that says to insert the game card, the icon is for a physical game. For help with physical game cards, click here.

    Additional Information:

    • Purchases on Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch are tied to the Nintendo Account that was used to make them.
    • You can register one primary console per Nintendo Account.
    • Once you've registered a primary console, your digital purchases can be played by anyone that uses the primary console.
    • If software has been deleted from the HOME Menu, it can be redownloaded and played using the Nintendo Account that was used to purchase it.
    • When using a non-primary console, you are the only player that can access digital software you've purchased. Other players will not be able to access your digital software on a non-primary console.

    Complete These Steps:

    What digital content is missing?

    1. Update the software that the DLC is intended to be used with to the latest version.
    2. The DLC may need to be downloaded separately from the main software. Click here for instructions.
    1. Locate the software on Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch and select it to reach its product information page.

Which Option Appears on the Right Side of the Software's Product Information Page?

    1. Redownload the software.
      • This message means that the software has been purchased using a Nintendo Account on the console and can be redownloaded at no cost.
      • The software can only be redownloaded by the Nintendo Account that was originally used to purchase it.
      • If you can't find the software you want to redownload in the list and "Purchased" is shown on the product information page, click here.
    2. Once the download is finished, launch the software from the HOME Menu.
      • Make sure to allow enough time for the download to finish. You can check the current download status on the HOME Menu. (For DLC, check the icon for the software the DLC is for.)
    1. This means that the software has not been purchased on the console, or that the console is no longer active for the Nintendo Account that was originally used to purchase the game.
